William (Bill) J. Johnson , DO
Dr. William Johnson is a Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon who joined the practice of Tri-County Orthopedic & Sports Medicine in January of 2003. He relocated to N.C. from Pennsylvania where he had been in private practice for 16 years.
Dr. Johnson received his B.S. degree from Penn State University in 1975. He attended Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine from 1976 to 1980 and received his Doctor of Osteopathy degree. His internship was at Delaware Valley Medical Center in Langhorne, PA from 1980-1981. He continued at Delaware Valley Medical Center for his orthopedic residency which he completed after 4 years in 1985. With a strong interest in hand surgery; Dr. Johnson decided to do a Fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital in 1985 on hand surgery. Upon completion of this fellowship he began his career.
Dr. Johnson went into private practice at Orthopedic Associates in Langhorne, PA in 1986 and continued there until December 2002 practicing general orthopedics and hand surgery. He served as Chief of Orthopedics at Delaware Valley Medical Center from 1998 to 1999. He has held several teaching positions including Resident Instructor, orthopedic surgery at Frankford Hosptial in Pennsylvania from 1986 to 1997 and Clinical Instructor of Orthopedics at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine from 1988 to 2002.
In the Fall of 2002 he decided to relocate to North Carolina and chose to join Tri-County Orthopedic & Sports Medicine beginning in January 2003. He relocated to Mt. Airy along with his wife Amy and their 3 children. Dr. Johnson is board certified by the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and serves on the staff of Northern Hospital of Surry County and Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. He is a member of the American Osteopathic Association, the North Carolina Medical Society and the American Medical Association.
